Vaccinations for dogs
Recommended for all dogs (core components):
Canine distemper, Adenovirus-2, Canine Parvovirus.
Additional components (recommended for dogs in Switzerland):
Leptospirosis, Canine Parainfluenza Virus.
For basic immunization, 3 vaccinations are given at 8-9, 12 and 16 weeks of age (except Leptospirosis) and at 6-12 months of age. Booster vaccinations for Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough are required annually, and for Distemper, Infectious Canine Hepatitis, and Parvovirosis only every 3 years.
Other vaccinations, such as nasal or oral Kennel Cough Vaccine (Bordetella) and Lyme Disease Vaccine are appropriate depending on exposure and infection pressure.
Contact me if you have any questions about this!
Vaccinations for cats
Recommended for all cats (core components):
Feline Panleukopenia Virus (= Parvovirus), Feline Herpes Virus, Feline Calicivirus.
For basic immunization, 3 vaccinations are given at 8-9, 12 and 16 weeks of age and at 6-12 months of age. Repeat vaccinations against Parvovirosis are required every 3 years and against Herpes/Calicivirus annually.
Optional, depending on exposure (non-core components):
Feline Leukemia Virus, recommended especially for outdoor cats.
Basic immunization is similar to the above vaccinations. Repeat vaccinations are initially required annually, in older, regularly vaccinated cats only every 2-3 years.

Rabies vaccination
Rabies vaccination is only mandatory for travel abroad, but also recommended within Switzerland. The puppies must be at least 12 weeks old at the first vaccination. A repeat vaccination is required every 3 years.
Special regulations apply for travel to rabies risk countries. Please inform yourself in time before your departure (see BLV info page).
